The purpose of the Religion Enrichment portion of the Sophomore Humanities Curriculum is to look at the role of the Catholic Church

in American History from the point of view of Gospel Values and Catholic Social Teaching.

This means we must put on our 'Gospel Glasses' and look at the American experience through the lens of those who were marginalized, exploited and oppressed,

and evaluate how well the Church lived up to it's own teachings. This will be a different history- one from the point of view of the 'losers', not the 'winners'.

It is an upside down version of history which is more consistent with the Jesus' 'Upside Down Kingdom' of love and justice.
